I do not know this artist, but he is amazing!!!!!!! If you would like to watch a couple videos of a traditionally painted portrait, check out these links. This is why so many of these “paintings” look like a photograph. This is actually very hard to do, because most digital artists lean more toward the realism of a photograph rather than the creative interpretation of a traditionally painted portrait. The trick is to get the photograph to appear like a hand painted painting and not so much as a photograph. #Painted portraits software#The software I use is Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. The difference is, a traditionally painted portrait is started from a blank canvas with the photo only used as a reference.Ī digitally “painted” portrait actually starts with the photo, and digitally manipulates the photo to look like a painting. Both traditional portraits and digital portraits typically start with a photograph. Wow! I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but as a full-time portrait artist, both digitally and traditionally, these digital “paintings” are not all that difficult. so, again, you either like them or you dont, and if you don’t just get over yourselves! We live in a time of familiar faces, and faces made familiar by film, media and photographs, so surely, these pieces are an accurate representation of the ‘face focused’ world we live in. #Painted portraits tv#For over a hundred years we have been bombarded with realism, and as technology improves, our sense of realism is heightened (HD TV being a great case in point).Their technicality is something of a distraction, as is the familiarity of the faces, but more distracting still is the need that many of the viewers seem to find in comparing them with another method of representation. You either like them or you dont, but the same could be said of a Rodin sculpture (realistic?)or any of the 20th century movements in realism. Whilst they are neither portraits, photographs or paintings in the strictest sense, they are objects, and have been created by an artist so their individual quality (and collective merit as a contemporary style/genre) is surely what is important. I cannot help but wonder at the bitterness and cynicism of many of the comments regarding these images.

A month pass by, and Wilford’s soldiers come back with protein blocks to feed the passengers. Curtis tries to cut his arm too but is unable to build that kind of courage. And then one by one, other people in the tail section start cutting arms and legs and offering them. The old man is someone by the name of Gilliam (John). He kills a woman who is hiding and takes her baby but is interrupted by an old man who cuts his own arm off and asks people to feed on it and spare the baby. Curtis (Chris) is one such passenger who turned cannibal in the tail section. It goes from there to eating babies as they taste better. After a month, they go cannibal and eat the weak. Wilford’s soldiers take everything that the tail section passengers have and leave them with no food or water. The train is organized like any transport service, upper classes at front, lower (economy) classes at the back, and finally a tail section for the free-loaders. The last of the survivors find themselves a place in the rear compartments of the train and the rest of humanity dies an icy death. The train’s first set of passengers begin their journey, and the world starts freezing over. Now, it is advertised that Wilford created the train because he foresaw what the CW-7 would do, but it could merely have been a train for a traveling experience which later became a life-saver. He designs a train powered by this engine to have it circumvent the globe. While this initially reduces the heat, it leads to a hell-freezes-over situation and the planet turns into a snow cone.Ī while before the CW-7 dispersal, Wilford (Ed), a genius of sorts, invents a perpetual engine. To counter this, scientists come up with a chemical called CW-7 (an artificial cooling substance) which is dispersed into the air. Humans have destroyed the planet’s atmosphere causing a severe situation of global warming. Layers of fear 2 endings explained movie#Now if we replace the fish with humans, the tank with a train, the food-chain with a class-hierarchy … we have the movie Snowpiercer. If there are too many plant-eaters, they will eventually consume all the plantation, starve, and die to cascade up to the higher levels. There needs to be a healthy balance maintained at each level else the ecosystem will collapse. The fishes on the bottom of the food chain are consumed by the ones higher up. It is a closed ecosystem and unlike the ocean, this is a monitored one, usually by a human. It contains fishes that feed on plants and fishes that feed on other fishes. Let us for a moment consider a large fish tank that has a variety of fishes. I’m going to jump straight into an analogy that Snowpiercer gives us. – Why keep the tail-enders alive at all?.Here are links to the key aspects of the movie: Because they appear to be the supreme sorcerer, any of the characters has been chosen. We will measure the length of this pencil by lining its left tip up with the zero mark. The final example of measuring centimetres using a ruler is given below. This ruler measure in two different units of length, inches on one side (English ruler) and centimeters on the other side (metric ruler). The right hand side of the eraser lines up with the 4 on the ruler and so, the length of the eraser is 4 cm. We line up the left of the eraser with the zero line on the ruler. Here is another example of measuring centimetres with a ruler. This means that the pencil sharper is 1 cm across in width. The pencil sharpener’s right edge lines up with the 1. Remember to line up the left edge of the pencil sharpener with the zero line. We will measure the length of this pencil sharpener. Here is our first example of measuring centimetres using a ruler. When teaching measuring with a ruler it is important to stress that the measurement is taken from the zero mark and not the edge of the ruler. We always start from the ‘0’ line on the ruler and we line our objects up with this point.Ī common mistake when learning to measure objects with a ruler is to not line up the object with the zero correctly. It is important to measure objects using the measurement lines on the ruler. There are many different types of measuring rulers, available in different shapes, sizes and materials. The ruler itself is slightly longer than 15 cm, however the distance from the 0 line to the 15 line is 15 cm. A ruler is an instrument used to measure distances, degrees and determine straight lines. We typically write centimetres as ‘cm’ for short, with a space between the number and the ‘cm’. Some rulers have ‘inches’ on the other side and we cannot compare centimetres to inches as easily. It has numbers from 0 to 15 and each number is a centimetre apart from the number next to it.Ĭentimetres are one of the common metric units of measurement and they are easy to compare to millimetres, metres and kilometres when we describe how long a distance is.Īll of these words end in ‘metres’ so we know that we can compare them. The big long hash with numbers opposite to the centimetre is known as the inches. Centimetres are units of measurement that we commonly see on rulers and are written with the abbreviation ‘cm’.Ĭentimetres help to describe how long an object is.īelow is a 15 centimetre ruler. Ruler Measurements in Inches - Inch is bigger than the centimetre. |
